TechSmith (creators of Jing, Snagit, & Camtasia) has released a free digital whiteboard app, ScreenChomp, for the iPad.

ScreenChomp allows users to write and draw with their fingers in 12 colors and record their action with audio on the digital whiteboard, which includes the ability to add images to the background.

ScreenChomp Share

Why share to ScreenChomp.com? Because…
… it serves up a short URL that’s easy to share anywhere.
… you can download your video as an MPEG-4 file.
… there’s a Twitter sharing button.
… there’s no account to manage. Just post and go (perfect for schools and teachers)!

ScreenChomp features include:

  • The ability to import and rotate background images. Ideas might include an image design to mark-up for a client, a graph in the background to tutor a student, or a map to mark a route for someone to follow.
• Multiple sharing options – email, tweet, Facebook, URL link or Download MPEG4
  • Free video hosting at ScreenChomp.com

STUDENTS: Help each other with homework and work together on projects.
TEACHERS: Tutor kids while away from school, or record a few tips to send home with them.
MENTORS: Tutor youngsters from afar, without buying desktop recording software.
KIDS: Share doodles and ideas with friends.

While ScreenChomp is available for free through the iTunes store, edit activity after record can be done through Camtasia for Mac or Camtasia Studio, TechSmith’s screencasting software. Camtasia Studio costs $299.00 and Camtasia for Mac costs $99.00.
